DAY AFTER DAY, NIGHT AFTER NIGHT

If you are near someone with OCD
or trying to take care of them,
you will eventually stumble upon this medical fact:
There's no cure for OCD
Treatment, yes...
cure, no.

I'm reading my second autobiography from a person with OCD.
Since our son has invasive thoughts, it's the only way I can compare
his version with some else's.

The song OVERKILL rings true.
For there is no break from OCD.
So count this as a diversion.

And here's your flower for a hard week's work.
It's in bloom right now and just for you.

WHAT IS OCD? HERE'S A HINT...

My son has OCD. It is like having two minds at war in the same body
or like two cellos struggling with the same song.
It sounds a bit like this....

A THOUSAND YEARS FROM NOW....IT WON'T MATTER

...but right now it does! Keep up the good fight.
In the meantime, enjoy some music!

RELAX, RELAX, RELAX....REPEAT....I WILL RELAX...DOCTOR'S ORDERS!

.....and here's some of the best music around for just such a thing!
Besides listening to everything from the Piano Guys, Morgan Wheeler, & the Two Cellos,
my counselor advised me to
sit out on the front porch and just look around.
No newspaper,
or Ipod
or laptop
or even a book!
He just wanted me to sit for 5 or 10 minutes
and look around.
Maybe watch cars go by.
It's not as easy as it sounds.
Good luck!

P.S. And of course, prayer is always helpful!!!

SOUNDS CRAZY, DOESN'T IT?

Sometimes there's nothing left to do but draw closer to God.
Some diseases,
some distresses,
some actions,
and reactions,
seem endless.
And so instead of waves of remorse...
instead of waves of dread
or waves of depression
We
should
try
waves of praise.
Sounds crazy, doesn't it?
But what have we to lose?
We can only go upwards.

This trio has absolutely the best rendition
of a song called
Hallelujah....made famous by Shrek!
Enjoy your break and enjoy their song....

And now for your flower for this week.
These are Philippine violets and they are from my garden.
Hang in there. You did a good job this week.

ENDING THOUGHT FROM THE BIBLE:
"Then I heard something like the voice of a vast multitude, like the sound of cascading waters, and like the rumbling of loud thunder, saying: Hallelujah, because our Lord God, the Almighty, has begun to reign!"

THE BOOK OF LOVE

" Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
 Love never ends...
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.
So faith, hope, love abide, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.
I Corinthians 13: 7,8, and  12,13

I often wonder what is left after all is said and done. It won't be my anger
It won't be my grief
It won't be my sadness
and it won't be my disbelief.

It will be love.

Enjoy today's five minute break brought to you by 2 Cellos and Zucchero.

And today's flower just for you.
It's catmint and it's from my garden.
You deserve it for all your hard work.
Thanks for stopping by today.

PARENTS NEED SOOTHING WORDS

Today's five minute break is about Soothing Words...

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
(NIV Bible)

Soothing words are always welcome to those who are trying to comfort children
with mental or physical struggles.
But who will comfort you?
Here's a five minute break
that will soothe you
and help...if only for a minute.
Enjoy the Two Cellos as they play
a perfect rendition of
Fields of Gold.

And here's today's flowers for you for
a job well done.
They are verbenas and they are from my garden.
Hang in there.

BODY MOVEMENTS & OCD

Each night, our son paces around the house for about an hour after
taking his medicine.
He doesn't like to, but he says he has to.
Finally, he gets sleepy and goes to bed.
Alzheimer patients in hospitals also do this.
Very strange....but what is the connection?
Why pace at the end of the day.
It even has a name....Sundowner's Syndrome

Lindsey Stirling's got the violin and the moves....enjoy your 5 minute break

ARE YOUR PROBLEMS YOUR BULLIES?

48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

~1 Samuel 17:48

Do you have problems that bully you?
Do they follow you around?
My son has a bully. It's called OCD and the invasive
thoughts can bully him all day long.
It's hard to watch.
Sometimes the medicines work.
Sometimes they don't.
I pray someday that the intrusive thoughts will go away.

For today's break, I'd like to share a song
called 'Who do you think you are?'.
A thousand kids appear in this video from
Cypress Ranch High School. It's a stand against bullying.

The song and lyrics are the brain child of a  16 year old girl named Kaitlyn K.
Enjoy! :0)
ORIGINAL HIGH SCHOOL VERSION

And today's flower?
A whole Spring bouquet direct from my garden.
You did a great job this week.
Don't listen to the bully voices. They're fakes and lame compared to the truth.

YOU DO NOT RUN THE RACE ALONE

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
~Romans 8:31

You did a good job today! You do not run the race alone!
Friends, doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, therapists, neighbors, relatives....
all run with you.
And in a small way, I run with you as well as I try to bring you a little time
to rest.
I hope you find comfort in that.
The race is long, but you don't have to run it alone.
God understands even when no one else does.
Today's break is about running.
Even though I am not a runner (I'm a walker), it is always
an inspiration to watch the movie
"Chariots of Fire".

And here's your flower for today:
It's an Amaryllis from my garden!
Have a great week.

RESTING FROM THE BATTLE

... "and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith"...
~Hebrews 12:1-2

When a caregiver gets a break from the battle of keeping a loved one functioning, it may not seem like a break to others.
I was asked what I was doing over Spring Break this year.
The answer surprised them....I was going to sit in a chair.

No fancy vacation.
No cruise ships.
Just sit.

No TV.
No Facebook.
Just sit.

Maybe that's why your here right now. Just to sit!

Yea! :0) Relax and enjoy!
Your break this time is...
a romantic boat tour of the Chicago skyline
at night.
You worked hard, so enjoy this little moment of rest.
The music is wonderful
and the trip divine.

And let's no forget your flower!
This is a Passion Flower just beginning to open.
It's not from my garden, but from another garden here in Houston.

Have a Super Day!
Thanks for stopping by.

YOUR CHILD'S FRIENDS ARE LIKE GOLD

"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth."
~Matthew 5:5

As a caregiver, you are the leader.
As a caregiver, you are the advocate.
No matter how odd the looks in public or the silent ridicule of strangers...you know better.
You know the spirit inside the person suffering.
And you have the faith that things are not what they seem.
It is nice to know that others appreciate your love for those who are misunderstood by
our society.
******
Are you ready for a break?
This is a great one. You will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this break.
I'll not spoil it for you.
I have watched this one over and over.
It is filled with hope.
And redemption.
Hurray for friends that stick close to your side.
And here's your flower. Actually it's a whole bouquet from my garden.
Job well done this week.
You deserve a bouquet.
